About this tool
Generate cryptographic hashes of text in SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512.
The BrainCoder Hash Generator computes cryptographic hashes of your text with SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512, showing all four results instantly as you type. Hashing is a one-way process that turns any input into a fixed-length string, which makes it useful for verifying file integrity, comparing checksums, and generating deterministic identifiers.
Everything runs in your browser using the Web Crypto API — the same cryptographic engine browsers use to secure HTTPS connections. Your input is hashed locally and never sent to a server, so you can safely run hashes over private text, API keys or proprietary data. Results are printed as lowercase hexadecimal, the format used by shasum, Git and most tooling.
Each algorithm gets its own copy button, and a copy-all option grabs the full set at once. Hashing is intentionally debounced so the page stays responsive even with large pastes. In practice, SHA-256 is a safe default for integrity checks, SHA-1 still matches many legacy checksums, and SHA-384/SHA-512 produce longer digests when you want them.

How to use Hash Generator
Follow the steps below to use the tool.
- 1
Enter text to hash
Type or paste the string you want to hash into the textarea. This can be a password (for research only), a checksum to compare, or any arbitrary text.
- 2
Review the hashes
SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 results appear automatically and update as you type, all in lowercase hexadecimal.
- 3
Copy a hash
Click the copy button next to one algorithm, or use copy all to grab the complete set for comparing against another tool.
Still free, still private — your files never leave your device.
