BrainCoder's word and character counter tallies words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, lines, unique words, and reading and speaking time for any text. Counts update as you type or paste — useful for essays with a word limit, SEO content length checks, social posts, or simply measuring a document.
Word and sentence counts are built on whitespace and punctuation tokenization, which is most accurate for space-delimited languages like English. Character counts, by contrast, count every character regardless of script, so they stay accurate for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and any other writing system. Decimals and common abbreviations (Mr., e.g., 3.14) no longer inflate the sentence count.
Like all BrainCoder tools this runs entirely in your browser with a 1,000,000-character limit — your text is never uploaded to a server, so it's safe for confidential writing.
