PDF to Excel

PDF to Excel reads the text layer of a PDF and reconstructs its lines into spreadsheet cells. It groups words into lines by their position on the page, then splits each line into columns wherever a large horizontal gap separates words — so simple tabular layouts like financial reports, product lists or data sheets come out as rows and columns you can open in Excel, Google Sheets or any spreadsheet app. Output can be downloaded as .xlsx or .csv.

It works from the PDF's embedded text layer — text-based PDFs (created by Word, Excel, browsers or invoice software) convert well; scanned or photographed PDFs have no text layer and need our PDF OCR tool first. The layout rules are best-effort: uniform column tables convert cleanly, but merged cells, spanning rows, and tight multi-column pages may need manual cleanup in the spreadsheet. Every cell is exported as text, so numbers arrive as labels rather than formulas. All processing is client-side — nothing is uploaded.
