About this tool
Draw black redaction boxes over private content on any page, then export the redacted PDF — all locally.
Redact PDF covers private content by physically stamping a solid black rectangle into each page — the box is part of the page, not an overlay a reader can click away. Covered text can no longer be seen, selected, searched, or copy-pasted, which makes a real difference versus drawing a shape on top of the document.
Be honest about the limits: redaction blackens the area but does not delete the underlying text from the file, and anything outside the boxes you draw is left untouched. Metadata, form field values, annotations, and text elsewhere on a page all survive. So redaction is permanent for practical purposes — not a forensic guarantee — and you should re-open the downloaded file in a desktop reader and confirm every box covers its target before sharing. Password-protected PDFs should be unlocked with PDF Unlock first. Everything runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded, files up to 100 MB are supported, and region editing works on up to 200 pages.

How to use Redact PDF
Follow the steps below to use the tool.

Open PDF
Choose the PDF containing the information you need to hide. Files up to 100 MB are supported; password-protected files should be unlocked with the Unlock PDF tool first.

Mark redaction regions
On each page, drag a rectangle over the sensitive content, or add a region by exact numbers — page, X, Y, width and height in points from the page's top-left corner.

Redact and download
Click Redact to physically stamp the black rectangles into the page, then download the <source>-redacted.pdf file with the number of boxes applied.

Re-check before sharing
Open the downloaded file in a desktop reader and confirm every box covers its target. Content outside the boxes — metadata, form values, hidden text — is not removed, and this tool does not delete the covered text from the file.
